Wedding Photogaphers Bio Portrait   Meet Derek

Derek Pearson did not grow up with a camera in his hand. In fact it was late 2003 he started to become interested in photography and began experimenting with a digital point and shoot camera. As an avid mountain biker, he began to document the people and places that he was seeing. Before long, friends started prompting him to submit photos to magazines because they felt his images were on par with the professional shooters that were out there. After submitting a photo to a top mountain bike builder and it being used on the cover of their 2005 catalog, he decided that it was time to buy professional gear. He was published a few more times, branching out into music and fashion and got to meet
and photograph musicians and bands as big as Green Day and Audioslave. Now being published in 3 markets, he was asked by a person he met mountain biking if he would photograph her wedding. After some serious thought and deliberation, he decided to do it. The rest as they say is history. He discovered that he absolutely loved it, and bride and groom along with their family and friends, were so impressed that it wasn't long before referrals started rolling in. Derek limited his weddings to one a month until the end of 2005. He then was accepted into the Wedding Photojournalists association.which is a highly screened, critical organization. Less than 5% of wedding photographers qualify for membership. At that point he decided that wedding photography was his calling, and took it full time in January 2006.

He keeps things fun and light, knowing that the best photos come when people are having fun, not when they are getting bossed around by the photographer. Clients love the fact that he is unobtrusive, yet gets the great images again and again. Professional, easygoing and kind are words that often come up in his referrals. Derek absolutely loves what he does and feels that it is truly an honor to be trusted by so many to capture all the great moments. He hopes that you will trust him with yours.
