Bride walking next to purple tree blossom - photo by Parris Whittingham, NY, New York
"Summer Blossom"

Photo Equipment:
Canon 5D ISO 100
Lens: 70-200 w/ IS USM
Exposure: 1/100th at f3.2

Notes:
"Laura spotted the location near her home in Connecticut just days before the wedding. On the way to the ceremony, we decided to try and capture some images at the location. We were a bit nervous that the ground might be too muddy or the sky might open up and drench minutes before we walked down the isle. Thankfully, everything was perfect onsite. I was fascinated by how well Laura, the dress and this enchanting setting harmonized to create a timeless moment. As soon as we were finished, the wind kicked up in a violent fury and the temperature dropped considerably. The moment had passed. This image almost didn't happen and that's what makes it so special."

Bride walking away in a blur from the groom - photo by Caroline Ghetes, Life Photographics (NC)
"Desire"

Photo Equipment:
Nikon D70 ISO 200
Lens: 17-55mm f/2.8
Exposure: 1/50th at f/4

Notes:
"I had my doubts about shooting a wedding in El Paso. I didn't know what to expect, and what could possibly be so interesting about this small town in the middle of nowhere? Man, I could not have been any more wrong about the town’s history and color. The bride, groom, and I were headed back to the reception after we had taken a few pictures. We walked past this really colorful graffiti door. I looked back several times after walking past it, and decided to ask the bride and groom that I thought we should do a few shots. So we toyed around with a few concepts using this location right about sunset, and this was the result."

Bride turning and smiling while getting dressed with the help of bridesmaids - photo by Richard Esposito, RE Photo Design (CT)
"No Turning Back"

Photo Equipment:
Canon EOS-1D Mark II N ISO 1000
Lens: EF24-70mm f/2.8L USM
Exposure: 1/80th at f/3.5

Notes:
"I started photographing the activity of all the hands putting the brides dress together. Then I decided to come around and see what the bide thought about what was going on back there. Plus I wanted to get the overall view as to what was happening. I shot natural light and enhanced the image with Adobe Lightroom. I always get a lot of compliments on this shot."

Bride running, revealing her legs and red shoe - photo by Corey Mcnabb (NC)
"Bridal Flare"

Photo Equipment:
Nikon D2X ISO 400
Lens: 14-24mm
Exposure: 1/3200s, F/2.8

Notes:
"The sun was positioned perfectly for this shot, on what was otherwise a cold (25 degrees!) and very cloudy day, so I wanted to take advantage of what little light we had. Her kick-out dress was the perfect choice to showcase her long, graceful legs... which ended in those spectacular red shoes, so I wanted to make sure I captured that synchronicity! A few slight tweaks to the color balance and density of the photo in Lightroom, and here's the result."

Bride under a red umbrella running with bridedmaid in the rain - photo by David Hill (TX)
"Rainy, Red and Gruene"

Photo Equipment:
Canon EOS-1D Mark II ISO 1600
Lens: 16mm
Exposure: 1/10s, f/5.0

Notes:
"This title is a play on how we pronounce the name of the town Gruene, which is like the color. The blurry water tank in the background is a bit of a Gruene landmark. The storm front added nice colors to the sky that day. I was hanging around the bride's cottage while my assistant Jillian. Lori bolted out of the cottage, going about as fast as you can in heels across uneven pave stones and puddles. Some photographers state in their contracts that they won't shoot in the rain, as to avoid imperiling their precious equipment. They're wimps! Personally, I spend the extra money to own the better camera bodies and lenses which are fully weather sealed. With that little extra bit of preparation, getting the rainy shots were fun! "

Bright Future, bride with veil walking on the open grass field - by Sam Chinigo (CT)
"Bright Future"

Photo Equipment:
Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D
Lens: 18mm
Exposure: F125 at 6.7 sec.

Notes:
"I loved the background scenery and wanted to incorporate the bride's extra long veil. There was no breeze in the air so I had the groom toss up the veil and quickly get out of the frame. Worked beautifully! I then converted to Infared B&W in Photoshop, and burned in the sky & foreground elements to give more drama. I like the way the direction of the bride's gaze draws the viewer into the background and then back again. This photo worked well in both color and B&W, but I felt the B&W version really had the drama that I was going for, as I thought the vivid background colors actually competed with the subject for the viewer's attention."

Marina & Jim by Kristin Reimer (Photomuse), NJ, New Jersey - Wedding Photo of the Month
"Marina & Jim"

Photo Equipment:
Nikon D2X ISO 640
Lens: Nikon 10mm Fisheye
Exposure: F4.0 at 1/20 sec.

Notes:
"I simply ADORED this couple. It was impossible not to get a good photograph. I wanted to capture their feelings as well as the effects they had upon their guests. I approached it with a 10mm fisheye lens. I wanted to be close to my subject while presenting a grander perspective of the scene. Finally in my post production work, I burned and dodged to give extra focus on the bride and groom and to enhance the lighting that was provided between my flash and the light from the videographers. My focus was to fully extend and evoke the effusiveness of the couple's love."

Tightening Up by Jason Reese (Photorexit), IN, Indiana - Wedding Photo of the Month
"Tightening Up"

Photo Equipment:
Canon Mark III 1D ISO 640
Lens: EF16-35mm USM II f/2.8
Exposure: 1/60s at f/4.0

Notes:
"Responding with laughter, Kate struggles to keep her dress in position while her bridesmaids pull and tug to lace it up. With this image I used available light and a relatively wide focal length/aperture to focus attention on Kate while letting the bridesmaids in the background fall out of focus. As Kate recited various expressions, this image proved to be the over all demeanor for her wedding day - nothing but smiles and laughter."
